my lovely mum, not knowing what to bring me back from hawaii, ended up bringing these very hawaiian inspired fabrics!
they are very different to all of the other fabrics in my stash but i think i'll be able to make something really beautiful from them. thinking flying geese formation against a stark white to bring out and highlight all of the ocean purples and aqua shades.
i've started cutting a trial block to see how it all works - see Modify Tradition's blog for some very detailed instructions on a ZERO fabric waste tutorial. which i like a lot because i only have one fat quarter in each of these fabrics.

Owl Quilt
this is an owl quilt that i made for my friend's baby. my friend lives in the states and LOVES owls... this quilt was not hard (it's the second one i've ever finished however which makes it special)!
the owls are appliqued onto the centre patches. this was the most time consuming part. i was still experimenting with how to quilt the top, what colours to use, how to bind etc.
and i don't think i pre-washed the fabrics either - eeek! oh well....

flying geese from hawaii
this is a pattern i want to try...
i have some fabrics from hawaii given to me by my lovely mum. they are bright and really difficult to match with every single other fabric i have in my stash. hence i'm liking the white in this pattern.
please note that this photo came from: http://www.dontcallmebetsy.blogspot.com/ - beautiful quilts and some great tutorials.
it's been a while
well hello blog world!
i've just discovered this again. i completely forgot my password and then when i tried to add a comment to a quilting blog (so that i can be part of a fabric swap) it logged me in! wahoo.
a lot has happened in the past two years... but i'm not filling you all in on that. consider this a brand new start.
and today's thoughts coming to you from under the army-green of a hood in the rain - these are the things i saw today:
- a pregnant lady with belly wide stripes
- dead spider with curled legs centre pavement
- a flip-side man - circle rimmed glasses and neatly groomed brown hair on front but ELEVEN orange dreadlocks from neck to waist deep
will be updating you all on my latest quilting adventures.

first posts suck...
seriously. what are you supposed to write for a first blog?
i have a picture that will make you jealous. these are the famous floating boats of belize.

or there is this one... geoff's caye on our very first day.

i really miss the warm weather. sitting in new haven and it is cold. and overcast. and cold. every time i shiver, people laugh and say, "hon-ey. ii-ats go-aing tu ge-at a whole lo-at coald-ah soon". and so i have spent the last three hours looking for flights out of here.

ah yuk. my first blog turned out to be about the weather.
